Welcome to our dedicated Brake Page
Brake is a registered charity with two aims:- to prevent death and injury on the roads through education of all road users and campaigning for road safety. Road deaths are no accident; every death has a cause that can be prevented
- to care for people bereaved or affected by serious injury in a road crash through support services by our division BrakeCare
There are many people working for, or with, Brake: staff at our UK head office, hundreds of community volunteers, corporate supporters, and road safety professionals.

Driving instructors can help train safe drivers by signing up to Brake's Buddy Driving Instructor scheme, helping to promote Brake's acclaimed 2Young2Die campaign. All Buddy Instructors receive a pack of 2Young2Die driver safety resources from the charity to discuss with, and pass on, to pupils. These packs include:
- 25 of our their 2Young2Die booklets - a hard-hitting, glossy guide to staying alive on the road, specifically written for young drivers
- Sober Up leaflets - the facts on drink and drugged driving, specifically aimed at young drivers
- Tyre tread indicator cards - credit-card size card with a tyre tread indicator and Brake's 'Pledge to Drive Safely' tips
All Buddy Instructors also receive a FREE subscription to the Brake Professional scheme for one year. This means you receive a regular e-bulletin of Brake’s internationally-acclaimed newsletter, Road Safety News, quarterly mailings including research reports, posters and leaflets produced by Brake, the Government and other organisations, and discounts to Brake's conferences on road safety.
All we ask in return is that you ask your next 25 pupils to pay £1 more for one of their driving lessons in return for their resources from Brake - and that you donate £25 to the charity upfront in advance of you collecting these extra £1s (which you keep). This means the scheme is entirely self-funding for you and you recoup your donation!
Every penny collected goes towards Brake's life-saving educational work and care services for road crash victims, and enables them to provide you with more resources in the future at the same low cost. Just call Brake on 01484 559909 when your pack runs out.
